Kirk was born in Fairfield, Iowa, March 11, 1843 was married to Peter Klopfenstein December 31, 1861 and died near Berlin, O.T. December 5, 1904, aged 51 years, 9 months and 24 days. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday December 7th conducted by Mr. Ben Caudle, who took for his text Revelation 14:13. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, from henceforth that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them." Mes Klopfenstein was the mother of five children: Mes Ida Creason and Williams of near Berlin, Mrs. Rosa Walker of Sedare, Kansas, Walter living at Guthrie, Frankie who died in infancy. She joined the Baptist Church about twenty five years ago and had lived a consistent Christian and her life has ever been filled with kind deeds and devoted to the happiness of others. She was a good neighbor and friendm a most devoted wife and mother. Her home life was an ideal one where it was always peace and harmony. It seemed to me the sweetest testimony I ever heard was given by the aged husband and children who said she had always done everything she could for them and they had the consolation of knowing that had always done the same for her, so that now there were no sad regrets of the past; but oh, how she will be missed. The grief stricken husband and children have the sympanthy of all in their great bereavement but they do not mourn as those who have no hope, for they know that mother has only gone on before and will be ready to welcome the dear ones to the heavenly home. "Servant glorious welfare past. Thy glorious welfare past. The battles fought; thy race is won. And thou art crowned at last. Redeemed from earth and pain. Oh! when shall we ascend, And all in Jesus' presence sigb With our translated friend."
