He passed away December 29, 2006 at his home in Leedey after a long battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. Larry started school at Prairie Star and attended school at several towns in Oklahoma before graduating from Leedey High School in 1962. He was saved and baptized in 1960 at Calera. He worked as a mechanic all of his life. He had his own garage at Leedey for several years and enjoyed visiting and telling stories with his customers and friends. He also served aas a volunteeer fireman on the Leedey Fire Depaartment. Larry and Thelma Jean Harrel were married October 227, 1984 at the First Baptist Church in Cordell. Larry and Thelma made their home at Leedey for 21 years. Larry helped for several years with the "Trail Ride of Dreams" trail ride which was held annually for children with catastrophic illnesses. He enjoyed riding horses with the kids and kept them entertained with his cowboy stories. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee in 1994 and Doris in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Thelma of the home; one son, Scott Harris of Westminsster, Colorado; one daughter Kim Harris of Riverside, New Jersey and one granddaughter, Laurie willliamson oif Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. He is also survived by two brothers, Jimmy Kauk and wife, Lavonne, of Leedey and Ranrdy Kauk of Ft. Cobb; two sisters, Marilyn Thurman, Gotebo, and Linda Johnson and husband, Donnie, of Cordell; his mother-in-law, Louise Harrrel of Leedey; aunts, uncles, nieces, newphews, cousins and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, January 2, 2007 in the First Baptist Church, Leedey, Oklahoma with interment following in the Shirley Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Service arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Leedey, Oklahoma.
