Keen, 85, of Clinton, were held at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church in Clinton with Rev. R.N. Hammons officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton cemetery. Judge Keen, a retired district judge for 28 consecutive years from 1935 to 1963, died in his home Tuesday evening as a result of an apparent heart attack. He was born in the Ozarks near Springfield, Mo., and was the second of eight children. His family moved to the Weatherford area in 1890 where their first residence was a dugout. Judge (Bill) Keen came to Roger Mills County with his parents, about 1900. He resided on a farm northwest of Cheyenne until his father was elected to county office when the family moved to Cheyenne. He graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1904 he farmed and attended Southwestern Normal (Now Southwestern State College) in Weatherford and in 1908 hwe entered law school in Lebanon, MO. After graduation in 1909 he practiced law in Cheyenne and later in Weatherford. In 1922 he moved to Clinton where he held office of justice of the peace, police judge and county attorney. Back in the late 1930's and the 1940's Judge Keen purchased and operated the Keen's Business College previously operated by Mrs. Peggy Drickell. He was married to Lela V. Jones in 1914 and she preceded him in death in 1961. He is survived by 1 grandson, Jim Keen, of Oklahoma City; a daughter- in-law, Mrs. James W. Keen of Oklahoma City; 2 sisters, Mrs. Nona Duffey of Laguna Beach, California; and Mrs. Thelma Darby of San Antonio, Texas; 2 brothers, Paul of Norman and Cliff of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and 3 great grandchildren. Judge Keen's only son, James W. Keen, died of a heart attack in March of 1972. Kern-Schneider- Kiewsaw Funeral Home of Clinton was in charge of arrangements.
