While very young she gave her life to Jesus and united with the Methodist church. On August 18, 1872, she was united in marriage to William F. King, at Aceslo, Mo. To this union was born nine children. Her husband and two children preceded her to the great beyond. Her husband departed this life December 7, 1900, a daughter in 1889 and a son in 1940. She departed this life February 17, 1941, at the age of 90 years and 28 days. She and her husband moved from Missouri to Kansas in 1879, where they lived until 1889, when they moved to Oklahoma, locating at Fort Reno. In 1891 they homesteaded in Washita County. In 1900 they settled on what was known as the Old King Ranch, about nine miles southeast of Rankin, Oklahoma, where she has resided for the past 40 years. At the age of 65 she was baptized into the Church of Christ and remained a devoted Christian and mother, and was always ready and willing to help those in need. Mrs. King suffered the many hardships that all pioneers must suffer but she and her husbands helped lay the foundation for a Christian community in order that the younger generation might have a better place to live in and in which to rear their families. She is survived by seven children, who are: William K., Abner A., and Joseph B., of Reydon, Charles S. of Omaha, Neb.; George W., of Oklahoma City: Mrs. Addie Abbott of Elk City and Mrs. Emma Rowen of Reydon. She also is survived by 6 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 19, 1941, from the community building at Reydon, Oklahoma. Rev. Joe Laird of Elk City officiated. Internment was in Cheyenne cemetery with Fatheree funeral home in charge of the arrangements. Six grandsons were pallbearers and six granddaughters were flower girls.
