Dwight Holland officiating. Burail followed in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City, Oklahoma. Mavis Pauline Libby was born March 13, 1914 at House, New Mexico to H.E. and Eula Teurman Evans and died Saturday February 7, 1998 at the age of 83. She came to western Oklahoma with her family at the age of three. She was married to William Walter 'Bill" Libby and they made their home in the Square Top and Sandstone communities. The moved to Carpenter in 1944 where Bill was the Foreman for the Thurmond Ranch. Mavis Libby was a member of the Hammon Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, one sister and a grandson, Randy Logan. Survivors include her daughters, Jane Unruh and her husband, Kline of Mineola, Kansas and Valerie Jay and her husband Bill of Elk City; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Erwin of Elk City and Allene Campbell of Cheyenne; two sisters-in- law, Bertha Smith of Elk City and Florence Evans of Ft. Cobb. The family requests memorial in Mavis Libby's name be made to the Westview Boys Home in Hollis, Oklahoma.
