Lippencott, Sr., 80, pioneer resident and businesman of Cheyenne, passed away Janurary 1, 1974, in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne following a brief illness. Mr. Lippencott was born January 1, 1894 in Clay County, Texas to Mr. Charles E. Lippencott and Mrs. Ann Slack Lippencott. His father passed away when he was two years old and he was raised thereafter by his step-father Will Threlkeld. Mr. Lippencott came to Oklahoma in 1914 where he was employeed as a ranch hand on the Slack and Dunn Ranch in Roger Mills County until he went into the service in World War I in 1918. He served as a Sergeant in France and Germany in the battles of St. Michiel Sector, Argenne Forrest and Meuse River. After his discharge in 1918, he returned o Roger Mills County and entered the farming and ranching business in the Pie Flat Community. He was married March 20, 1920, to Miss Mary Madeline Creach of Hammon, Oklahoma. To this union were born two sons, C.E. and Bud. They continued to live in the Pie Flat Community until 1947. At this time they movede to Cheyenne where they continued in the ranching business until their retirement in 1971. Mr. Lippencott was also in the Case Implement Business for a number of years in Cheyenne and he operated a welding and repair shop in conjunction with his other business operations. "Charlie" as he was best known to his friends and relatives was a legendary pioneer in this community; he was devoted to his family as wewll as to his ranching and other businesses and was a true friend to all the ranchers and farmers with which he worked. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home in Cheyenne, two sons: C.E. Lippencott, Jr., Kirkland, Washington, and Bud Lippencott, Crawford, Oklahoma; one brother Bret Lippencott, Los Baneos, California; four grandchildren, Sharon Sherman and husband, Donald, of Redmond, Washington, Rick Lippencott, Kirkland, Washington, Linda Cook, Kirland, Washington, children of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Lippencott, Jr.; and Steve Lippencott and wife, Debbie, Cheyenne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lippencott; three great grandcfhildren: Lisa Cook, Donald Sherman Jr., and Rebecca Ann Lippencott. He is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Inez, wife of Mr. C.E. Lippencott, Jr., and Pauline, wife of Mr. Bud Lippencott, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Gertie Ozee, Wichita Falls, Texas in 1971. Funeral servicese were held Friday, January 4, 1974, in the First Baptist Church, Cheyenne, with Reverend Lloyd Martin and Reverend Fred Fudge officiating. Interment was in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Scroggins and Son Funeral Home.
