Royse Lee Lackey

DUMAS - Royse Lee Lackey, 63, died Saturday, July 27, 2002.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Dumas 
with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial 
will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray by Morrison Funeral 
Directors.

Mr. Lackey was born Nov. 22, 1938, at home near Cheyenne, Okla. 
After serving with the Navy for six years, he moved to Sunray and 
married Mickey Thomas on Aug. 31, 1962.

He was a member of the Sunray Fire Department for several years 
before moving to Dumas. He was a volunteer for the Dumas Fire 
Department for 15 years and an active member of the State Jaycees in 
the 1960s.

He was a licensed master electrician; a hunting safety instructor 
for the Texas Parks and Wildlife for five years; and an enthusiastic 
golfer. He was also a member of VFW Post 9022 of Dumas.

He had been an employee of Diamond Shamrock for 38 years as a 
treating and blending supervisor before leaving due to an eye 
disease in 1993. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dumas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bue and Bessie Lackey; and 
two sisters, Theressa Aline Lackey and Edna Mae Sharp.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lee A. Lackey of Fort 
Worth and Kristina Henderson of Plains, Kan.; three brothers, Bue H. 
Lackey Jr. of Disney, Okla., Wester Lackey of Sunray and Jody Lackey 
of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Darline Reynolds of Portland, Ore., 
and LaQuita Cox of Stonewall, Okla.; two grandchildren, Stormy and 
Seth of Plains; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be at 1114 Phillips Drive in Dumas.

The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, 211 
Zauk, Dumas, TX 79029; or to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second, Dumas, 
TX 79029.
