"Ricky" Lacey of Farson, Wyoming died Saturday 13, May 2000. R.J. was born near Hammon 24 March 1935, son of Fred and Etta Wright Lacey. He was christened at brith R.J., but everyone affectionately call him Ricky. R.J. graduated from Port, Oklahoma High School in 1952 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. His application for enlistment asked for full name-first name, middle name and surname. R.J. had only been given initials at birth-so he scratched his head and said, "Richard James Lacey," which agreed with the initials, but he had forgotten he had a brother names James Ray. So, two brothers shared the name James. He served in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic until his discharge in 1957. He was married the same year to Velma Gourley on July 25 in Kanapolis, Kansas. To this union were born three children: Dawn Renee, Teresa Lynn and Michael Alan. R.J. Received his bachelor's degree at Wichita, Kansas and went on to get his masters at Pittsburg State College in Pittsburg, Kansas. For several years he taught Industrial Arts and Mathematics at Butler County Jr. College in Eldorado, Kansas. A teaching job at Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs, Wyoming took him to Wyoming where he taught until his retirement. He loved the west and just before his retirement, he bought a home in Farson, Wyoming where he lived until his death. R.J. was preceded in death by both parents, his brother, Ray and his sister, Fay. He was survived by his children; a brother, LeRoy Lacey of Cassady, Kansas; and a sister, Mary Etta "Billy" Cash of Muskogee, Oklahoma; several grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services were conducted in the Kanaopolis Catholic Church of Kanapolis, Kansas, with burial there. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
