The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Lawanda Logan was born November 18, 1929 in Reydon, Oklahoma to Peg Veronia and Otho F. Sterwart and passed away October 23, 1997 at her home in Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 6 days. Lawanda grew up in Sweetwater where she attended school. She later moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma where she continued her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. It was there that she met Arthur Logan and they were married on August 14, 1948 in Wheeler, Texas. She worked at the Dean of Women's office at Southwestern before they moved to Sayre to make their home. She and Arthur owned and operated Logan's Jewelry for several years. Lawanda worked at the Jones Abstract office before beginning her career with the Sayre ASCS office, retiring after more than 30 years of service. She then began her second career with the Beckahm County Commissioners office and also stayed busy with several other parttime jobs with local businesses including the Odd Shop and Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Lawanda was very involved in the community and was a member of the Sayre American Legion Auxiliary. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Sayre Schools Athletic programs, traveling many miles to attend ball games. She was honored by the Sayre Athletic Booster Club as Fan Of The Year. She also loved the Oklahoma Sooners. She was an active member of the Sayre First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include: 2 sons-Artie Logan and wife, Karen of Edmond; Randy Logan of Sayre, 1 grandson Brandon Logan and wife, Alicia of Sayre; 3 sisters, Marvene Stewart of Sayre, Bonita macumber of Chickasha, Jo Nell Jones of Midwest City; 2 brothers Jake Stewart of Safford, Arizona, Joe Dale Stewart of Wellington, Texas; 2 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were Monday, October 27, 1997 at the Sayre First Baptist Church officiated by Tom Cooksey and assisted by Albert Wanken.
