The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Lilamerle Logan, eighty-nine, passed away in the Weatherford Hospital on Monday, June 18, 1990. She was born July 31, 1901 at Trail, Dewey County, Oklahoma, and was the youngest of eight children of George and Dovie Ann Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her four sisters and three brothers. Lilamerle graduated from Leedey High School, class of 1920, and was married on October 12, 1920 to Douglas Eugene Logan, and to this union was born one son, Wesley. In the mid 1930's while residing in Leedey, she commenced working for the Oklahoma Public Welfare Department. As a case worker she worked at Dewey and Ellis Counties. In 1941 she moved to Cheyenne and later became Director of Public Welfare for Roger Mills County, a position she held until her retirement in 1965. Her husband "Doug" died in 1972, and in 1981 she moved from Cheyenne to Weatherford. Lillamerle, a member of the First Baptist Church of Leedey, was always active in church work. As a young woman in the 30's she served for many years as pianist for the First Baptist Church of Leedey, and in later years she was a Sunday School Teacher in the First Baptist Church at Cheyenne. She is survived by her son, Wesley, and his wife, Dorothy of Weatherford; three grandchildren: Dr. Jim Logan and his wife, Colene of Weatherford; Gary Logan, and his wife, Anita of Weatherford; and Scott Logan, and his wife, Linda of Yukon, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren: Jill and Anne Logan of Weatherford; Richmond, Jason and Lee Logan of Yukon, and two step- grandchildren: James and Kari Keenum of Weatherford.
