The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Funeral services for Bessie LeGrand were held Monday, February 3, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sweetwater First Baptist Church with C.R. Tucker and Barry Cappleman officiating. Bessie, the daughter of Sarah and David Cummings, was born September 22, 1899 near Rosedale, Indian Territroy and passed away January 30, 1997 in her home at Sweetwater, Oklahoma at the age of 97 years, 4 months and 8 days. Bessie lived with her family southwest of Carter, Oklahoma until she was 10 years old and the family moved to Texola. They remained there for one year until moving to the homeplace southwest of Mayfield. Bessie married Samuel A. LeGrand on April 19, 1920 in Sayre, Oklahoma and they made their home three miles south of Sweetwater, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Sweetwater First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant daughters, one son, Frank, one great grandson, Rickey LeGrand, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. She us survived by three daughters, Imo LeGrand and Iris LeGrand both of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; Kay Hammons of Amarillo, Texas; two sons, A.B. LeGrand of Reydon, Oklahoma and Sam LeGrand of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; one daughter- in-law, Alyce LeGrand of Erick, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Interment was in the Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
