She passed away January 16, 2003 at her home in Union, South Carolina at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 4 days. Hazel grew up in the Duncan area before moving to Cheyenne. They later returned to Duncan before she married Lane Kenneth Lathrop at Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1937 and they lived on a farm near Hugo. While Lane was in the Army, Hazel moved to California and Lane joined her after his discharge. They remained in California unti; 1974 when they returned to Oklahoma and lived in Hugo. In 1995, Hazel moved to Union to be near her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and one sister. Survivors include: 1 daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Buddy Bright of Union, South Carolina; 1 grandson, Allan Bright of Union, South Carolina; 1 great granddaughter, Brittany Bright of Union, South Carolina; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mils County,Oklahoma with Rev. Fred King officiating.
