The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Funeral services for Douglas Long Elk, 44, of El Reno, and former Hammon resident, were held at 2 p.m., Driday, in the Episcopal Church in El Reno. Officiating was Father Barney Jackson. Burial followed in the Indian Mennonite Cemetery in Hammon, Oklahoma under the direction of Stanley-Lee Funeral Home. Douglas Long Elk was born November 25, 1948 in Clinton to Earl and Ida Long Elk Orange and died January 3, 1993 in El Reno. He was raised in Hammon and later enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in veitnam. After his honorable discharge he returned to Hammon area. He attended tech school and received his certificate in auto mechanics. He moved to the Dallas, Texas are for a short time and had been a resident of El Reno the past 3 and 1/2 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Native American Indian Church and the Red Moon Service Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Pearl Orange, Rose Marie Orange and Flora Orange. He is survived by his wife, Barabara Long Elk, Albuquerque, New Mexico, two daughters, Cassandra Bradley, El Reno, and Phyllis Long Elk, Elk City, and one son, Orville Miles, Oakland, California.
