The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Floyd McKay son of George Samuel and Martha Ellen Salsman McKay, was born on February 18, 1909 at Mountain Grove, Missouri. He passed from this life on Monday, December 4, 1995 at Clinton, Oklahoma. Mr. McKay had reached the age of 86 years, 9 months and 16 days at the time of his death. Floyd attended the rural schools of Center Chapel and Liberty Center near his home in Roger Mills County and grew to manhood in these communities. On April 4, 1935 Floyd McKay was united in marriage to Violet E. Heniford at a farm home in Roger Mills County. To this most happy union two children were born, a son who died in infancy and daughter Margaret Ann. After their marriage Floyd and Violet lived in Leedey for a time before moving to Canadian, Texas. They remained here for several years before moving to Long Becah, California where Floyd worked as an equipment repairman for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Corporation. Upon his retirement he and Violet moved back to Oklahoma, where they built a home on Lake Eufaula. Floyd spent many enjoyable hours at the lake, doing one ofn his favorite hobbies, that of fishing. After Violet's death in May of 1976, Floyd moved back to Leedey, longing to be closer to relatives. On May 28, 1986 Floyd was united in marriage to Verna Cook at Terrell, Texas. Their home was established at Clinton, Oklahoma where Floyd has lived the remaining years of his life. Besides loving to fish Floyd found much enjoyment in palying the fiddle, and attending rodeos. The good, wholesome, things of rural life was much to his liking. In August of this year, Floyd sensing a deeper need in his life, received Christ Jesus as his Saviour. This brought great peace to his Soul. Mr. McKay was preceded in death by his parents, George and Martha McKay, one infant son, his wife Violet and four sisters, Jewel McKay, Lois Patton, Glayds Harrel and Nema leslie, and four brothers, Ernest Clifton, William Stone, George S. and John Gover McKay. Those remaining to honor his memory include his wife, Verna of the home in Clinton, his daugher, Peggy McGarraugh and husband Melvin of Pueblo, Colorado. Three grandchildren, Stacy Lash, Shannon McGarraugh and Craig McGarraugh and eight great grandchildren, Stacy Lash, Shannon McGarraugh and Craig McGarrough and eight great grandchildren all of Pueblo. Four step children, George Cook of Houston, Texas, Sue Bass of Walker, LO. Rita Scott of Terrell, Texas and Curtis Cook of Clinton, seven step grandchildren, also eight step great grandchildren. Two sisters, Marth Ann Patterson of Leedey and Addie M. Purcell of Santa Pauls, California, several nieces, nephews, other realtives and many friends. Services were Thursday, December 7, 1995 at 12:00 a.m. at the Evergreen cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma. Don Ross, pastor of First Baptist Church, Leedey officiated.
