The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Gertrude Johnson Mayhugh was born November 21, 1916 in the Rolla Community of Collingsworth County, Texas to Floyd and Nina McAdams Johnson. She died Thursday, September 30, 1999 at the age of 82 in Wellington, Texas. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 1999 at the Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Elvis Pitts, retired Baptist minister, of Amarillo officiating. She was a member of the 1935 graduating class of Wellington High School. She married Roland Mayhugh on December 23, 1945 in Wheeler, Texas. He died in 1978, and she was also preceded in death by a grandson, James Dean Bruton in 1993. She was a bookkeeper for several cotton gins for many years. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, the Arlie and Loco Home Demonstration Club, the midway Home Extension Club and a charter member of the Sabine Pass #2459 United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a lifelong resident of Collingsworth County. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Little of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and Vickie Porter of Wellington, Texas, one sister, Lorene Hill of Wellington, Texas, and two grandsons, Stephen A. Bruton of San Pedro, California and Clay J. Porter of Amarillo, Texas. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Wellington, Texas. Casketbearers were: Virgil Patterson, M.E.
