T.D. Gifford officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home. Hobart Woodward "Hobe" Mayes was born October 3, 1918 in Hammon to John and Lola Green Mayes and died Wednesday at the age of 78. He moved to Elk City with his family at two months of age and has lived here since. He was married to Lee Dodd on November 4, 1953 at Wheeler, Texas. He owned and operated his own garage since 1958. Hobe was a member of the First Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Lee Mayes, of the home; two brothers, Harry Mayes of Burkburnet, Texas and LeRoy Mayes of Pocoma, California; one sister, Betty Darrow of Plano, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Elk City Daily News, Elk City, Ok
