He was born Novembver 5, 1934, in Oklahoma, the son of Josie Lee and Ida Stephenson McDaniel. Bob grew up on a farm and spent many hours as a boy picking cotton and helping with the family cattle operation. Upon graduation from his school he began his college education at Weatherford College. His education was interrupted by a tour of duty in the army. Upon his discharge, Bob enrolled in Panhandle A & M where he received his bacehlor's degree. Later he received his Master's degree in School Administration from Kansas State University in Manhatten. His first teachin job was in Beattie, Kansas. He also taught in the middle schools and high schools of Westmoreland, Hoyt and Sumerfield, Kansas. During those years he taught Natural Science, Math, Social Scirnce, and coached. He served as principal at Axtell, Kansas. His years as a school superintendent began in Benedict, Nebraska, and later he was the superintendent of USD 481, the Hope and White City Schools. Bob McDaniel was married to Susan F. Rattenborg on December 23, 1976, at Axtell, Kansas. Bob retired in 1992 and spent his remaining years working in the Woodbine community in various community and church endeavors. He also spent many hours beautifying the acreage around his and Sue's country home. Bob was a member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church where he served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He was also a past president of the Woodbine lions Club and a former district officer. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dovie Felder. Bob is survived by his wife Sue of the home, a daughter Terri Clemens, her husband Dan and their daughter Katie of McPherson, two brothers, Jack McDaniel of Crawford, Oklahoma, and Leonard McDaniel of Durha, Oklahoma, and a sister Billie Dollar of Ruidoso, New Mexico. The family requests memorials in lie of flowers to the United Methodist Church of Woodbine, or the Center for Basic Cancer Researh, Kansas State University. Arrangements by Donahue Funeral Home.
