Her brother Charles joined her on September 1, 1959. The family moved from the Rhea community to Leedey where brother and sister attended public school. Frannie was a 1973 graduate of Leedey High School, and went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. She pursued a degree in education and was graduated with honors in 1977. Frannie then entered the field of teaching and, for the next three years, taught school in Martha, Oklahoma ans Skellytown, Texas. During her time in Texas, Frances Leann Metzler met Roy Lyn McClendon, whom she married on June 7, 1980 at the First Baptist Church in Leedey. She became, not only a wife, but also a stepmother nd "Mom" to Krista and Kathy - roles she took on gladly. That same year, Frannie and Roy moved back home, first to the Trail Flats and then to Leedey, where she wads hired to teach second grade. "Mrs. McClendon", as she was known, held this position for the next 17 year, and was once awarded Leedey's Teacher of the Year. On June 19, 1987, Frannie and Roy welcomed their son, Klint Leslire McClendon, to the family. Along with teaching, Frannie derived great pleaasure in raising Kathy and Klint, and remained involved in their many school activities. After retirement from teaching in 1997, Frannie opened Leedey Floral and Gifts. The business allowed her to indulge her passions for boh flowers and crafts. Frannie loved creating beautiful arrangements and decorative gifts. She continued craf work as a hobby after her health forced her to give up the store in 1999. Music was one of Frannie's great loves and an integral part of her life. She was an accomplished musician, talented both as a pianist and vocalist. A member of Leedey's First Baptist Church, Frannie devoted her skills and much of her time to church activities and worship. For the past 15 years, she served as one of the church pianist and was often a featured solo vocalists. Frannie, also, frequently provided music forr various community events. Sports were another source of enjoyment for Frannie. Prior to her illness, she was paricularity proficient in water-skiing. According to her parents, she had skied on almost every lake in Oklahoma. She was an avid Leedey Bison fan and attended as many gamwa in all the sports as her health premitted. Frannie passed from this world into God's hands on April 24, 2004. She left behind a much beloved family and friends who deeply mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Irving and Lois Metzler; maternal grandparents, Leslie and Wilma Day - best known as Daddy Day and Mama Day; uncle, Gale Pratt; brother-in-law, Steve Dean McClendon; and her "special cousins" Marjorie and LaKeta Nichols. Frannie is survived by her husband, Roy, and son Klint of the home; daughter, Kathy and husband Corey Frantz of Balko, Oklahoma; Krista and Anthony Sheetz of Burke, Virginia; parents, Wesley and Sharon Metzler and brother Charles, all of Leeey, Oklahoma. Frannie was also proud to claim 2 grandsons, Grady and Cody Frantz, one granddaughter, Riley Sheetz, and sister-in-law, Jody McClendon and family. Memorials may be sent to Leedey First Baptist Church Fellowship Fund. Services were held Wednesday, April 29, 2004 in the Leedey High School Auditorium with interment following in Trail Cemetery, Leedey, Dewey County, Oklahoma. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Leedey, Oklahoma.
