McClendon, pioneer resident of Strong City who died Tuesday of April 18, 1946 of injuries received Saturday night when his car went out of control and plunged into a canyon were held Thursday afternoon at the Strong City Baptist church with Rev. Veach officiating. A neighbor who had gone out to see about his cattle found Mr. McClendon Sunday pinned underneath his car suffering from a concusion and other body injuries. It was believed that he had been pinned beneath his car for at least 20 hours. Mr. McClendon was born March 7, 1870 in Monroe, Lousiana, and moved to Roger Mills county in 1902 where he homesteaded near Strong City. He had made his home with W.A. Rice since 1920. He is survived by one brother, Will McClendon, who resided in Texas and a number of nieces and nepews. Committal was in the Strong City cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
