All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Memorial Park Mausoleum--Amarillo TX Martha Anetta Macklin Martha Anetta Macklin, 64, of Amarillo died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Macklin was born to Woodrow and Gladys Sims on March 14, 1939. She was born in Cheyenne, Okla., where she was raised and attended school. She married Dwain Macklin on June 3, 1960, in Sayre, Okla., then moved to Amarillo in 1964. She was a bakery manager at Safeway for many years before she began baking and decorating her own creations from home. She had a wonderful reputation in Amarillo and surrounding areas for her beautiful cakes and wonderul spirit of giving. This was evident a few years ago when on her birthday she baked, decorated, delivered and set up five wedding cakes. She was also a very good quilter. She loved making quilts for her family and recently finished one for her newest great-grandson that will be born in January. She was a member of Southlawn Baptist Church for many years but had been a member of San Jacinto Baptist for the past several years. She was very proud of her family and loved them very much. Even in her last days she was talking about her "babies." She was preceded in death by her father in 2002. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Terrie Durham of Gilbert, Ariz.; four brothers, Bob Sims of Amarillo, Loyd Sims of Lindale, Jim Sims and Ron Sims, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Oleta Cree of Amarillo, Darlene Carter of Hereford and Rhonda Lowell of Elk City, Okla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
