McConkey, 707 North Seventh, Sayre, Oklahoma retired school teacher who died Thursday following a heart attack, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church in Sayre. Mr. McConkey was born December 4 1885 in Missouri and came to western Oklahoma in 1912. He has taught school in Custer, Roger Mills and Beckham counties for the past 35 years. He was superintendent of the Meridian school for a number of years. He was married April 26, 1929 to Willie Etta _____(can't read) in Arnett, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Christian church and the IOOF lodged for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willie E. McConkey of the home address; one daughter, Miss Patsey McConkey of the home address; three brothers, Charles McConkey of Sayre, Thurman McConkey of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Murray McConkey of Seattle. His father, mother, one son and one daughter preceded him in death. The Rev. J.N. Gibble officiated at the service. Burial was at the Grandview cemetery, north of Elk City, with the IOOF lodge in charge of grave side services.
