All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Merle Elizabeth McCamon SAYRE, Okla. - Merle Elizabeth McCamon, 94, died Sunday, July 6, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Rose Chapel with the Rev. Mark Little officiating. Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery by Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Mrs. McCamon was born in Berlin, Okla. She attended school at Belmont. She married Edger Vivan McCamon in 1919 at Sayre. They lived in the Berlin community, where Mr. McCamon farmed. After his death, Mrs. McCamon moved into Sayre in 1965 and to Elk City in 1993. She had received her 50-year pin in the County Extension Club and was a member of the Berlin Quilting and Community Clubs. She was a longtime member of the Berlin Methodist Church and played the piano and sang in the choir. After the church closed, she moved her membership to Elk City United Methodist Church. Mrs. McCamon also was preceded in death by three sons, Dale Ray, Melvin and Alonzo; a daughter, Eula Martin. Survivors include two sons, Glen McCamon of Elk City and Bill McCamon of Amarillo; four daughters, Anna Lee Kirk of Texhoma, Helen Cannon of Cheyenne, Ruth Montgomery of Las Cruces, N.M., and Sue and Joe Weaver of Holcomb, Kan.; a sister, Neva Merrifield of Sayre; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Berlin Community Center.
