McCord died at her home near Durham Friday August 30, 1918, after an illness of about six months. Last apring she had a stroke of paralysis from which she never fully recovered. During the months that intervened between that and the time of her death she suffered continually. Mrs. McCord was born in Christian County, Kentucky in the year 1868. She was fifty years, seven months and sixteen days old at the time of her death. She was married January 9, 1889. She was the mother of nine children, five of whom preceded her to that better land. Of the four remaining one, Mrs. Burkental lives in San Antonio, Texas, the other three, Frank, Alice and Fred all in the teens, are at home with their father. At the age of twelve years Mrs. McCord was converted and joined the Baptist Church. She remained a devouted Christian throughout her entire life. She was a devoted wife and mother and the bereaved family may find consolation by knowing that although she has gone from the, her influences still live and the sweet memory of the time she was with them will linger forever. Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Church of Durham in the presence of the large crows which had assemlbed to pay their last respects to the body of Mrs. McCord and to join with the family in grief. The Star joins with the many friends of the bereft family in extending to them heartfelt sympathy in their sorrow. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 12-Aug-1918
