Judge Madden had been in poor health for several months, and was under constant medical treatment. His condition was not considered more serious than usual at the time of his passing. Perry Madden homesteaded a claim near Roll in 1904 and removed to Cheyenne in 1909 when he passed the bar examination and entered the practice of law. In 1910 he was elected representative for Roger Mills County in the State Legislature. He was made City Attorney for Cheyenne during the dark days of the history of the city when the C.& O. W. railroad extended west from Clinton to Strong City. It was probably through the efforts of Perry Madden more than any other citizen in Cheyenne, that a deal was made to build the Cheyenne Short Line Railroad from Cheyenne to connect with tfhe C. & O.W. and also for the successful operation of that road until it was finally sold to the C.& O.W. It was during the period that Mrr. Madden proved his loyalty to his community and his fellow townmen and endeared himself to the citizenship of Cheyenne, and caused others to admire him for his devotion to his town, keen legal mind and superior business judgment. Judge Madden later moved to New Mecxico where he resided until about three years ago when he returned to Cheyenne and re-entered the practice of law. One of the greatest attributes of character possed by Perry adden was his loyalty to his friends. If Perry Madden was a friend to a person he was a friend through thick and thin. Funeral services were conduted at the Baptist Church of this city by Rev. J.H. Bradley, pastor of the Baptist church, assisted by Rev. D.R. Hunt, pastor of the Methodist church. Judge .H. Mouser, a friend of long standing, delivered an address of eulogy in which he mentioned many accomplishments of the deceased and pointed out his many virtues. Those who acted as pall bearers were: County Attorney, J. Scott Vincent, Judge F.R. Blosser, W.W. Peterson, Orval Grim, Sylvester Grim and Mr. Walter Sprowls. The family requests the editor to thank all for the many floral offerings and expressions of sympathy and condolence. Marion Perry Madden son of William Perry and Arrannetta . Madden was born at Edinberg, Missouri on the 11 day of December, 1870 and lived in Missouri until 1897, when he came to Oklahoma, locating first in Payne county. He received his education in the public school and in Grand River College, at Edinburg, Missouri. In October 1895 he married Maude Harding, and to this union there were born nine children, seven of whom survive, bing Mriel Jones, Oakland, California; Don D., Salt Lake City, Utah; Rex, Clinton, Oklahoma; Mabel Pittson, Seattle, Washington; Bonnie Russell, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mike, Clinton, Oklahoma; and Beulah Houston, Long Beach, California. There are also eight grandchildren. Other relatives surviving are his father, W.P.Madden of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Hogle Madden, a brother of Crawford, Oklahoma; Mrs. E.L. Mitchell, a sister of Clinton, Oklahoma; and Mrs Pearl Redden, an aunt of Durham, Oklahoma. In 1904 he located on a homestead near Roll, in Day county, now Roger Mills County, where he resided until 1909, when he moved to Cheyenne where he opened a law office and engaged in the general practice of law. He always took an interest in public affairs and in 1910 was elected from Roger Mills County as a member of the State Legislature. At the early age of fifteen years he professed faith in Christ and united with the Baptist Church at Edinburg, Missouri. On the 20th day of May, 19435, he married Mrs. Sadie Glenn at Ottawa, Kansas, and he and his wife and two step-children, Gerel and Glenn, were residing together in Cheyenne at the time of he departed this life on the 26th day of February, 1936, at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 15 days.
