He was born on November 21, 1909 in Strong City to Ada Florence (Speck) and William Frederick Mullennix. George attended school at Kempton. He married Ruby Jewel (Vitato) at Elk City on February 12, 1927. George farmed in the Carter area until he retired in 1990 and moved to Elk City. He served on the Carter School Board and the Carter City Council. George loved God and was a member of the Assembly of God Church at Carter, where he served as secretary and treasurer. He loved his family and had many friends and was a good neighbor. Music was a very important part of George's life. He enjoyed singing with his family, attending gospel concerts, hunting and playing croquet. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jewel of 67 years; three grandchildren, Roger Dale Jones, George Alexander Jones and Elaine Jones; three great grandchildren; four sisters, Agnes Frances, Jessie Vitato, Lelar Mullennix and Bessie Mullennix; four brothers, Jim Mullennix, Eugene Mullennix, Oscar Mullennix and Albert Mullennix and 1 son-in-law, Ted Cain. He is survived by five children, Leon Mullennix and wife, Shirley of Grand Junction, Colo.; Louise Brockman and husband, Gordon of Lancaster, Calif.; Berta Cain of Altus; Vera Traffanstedt and husband, Ruben of Tehachapi, Calif.; Joyce Chandler and husband, Dub of Elk City; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held May 15, 2004 at 3 p.m. at First Assembly of God officiated by Rev. T. D. Gifford, Rev. Oliver Thompson and Dr. Richard Ventonis. Burial was at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home.
