Mandrell of the Sunny Point community, were held Thursday at the Buffalo church near her home last Thursday. Interment was in the Buffalo cemetery. Death came to Miss Mandrell in Oklahoma City, December 5, 1944 after a critical illness of a few weeks. She was employed in the First National Bank of Sayre until her last illness. The following tribute to Miss Mandrell was given at the funeral by Rev. Cecil Baggett of Thomas, Oklahoma, who assisted in the services. Bertha Florence Mandrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Mandrell, was born in the home on the place where this church now stands, on April 24, 1923. She passed away in the Oklahoma General Hospital in Oklahoma City, December 5, 1944, aged 21 years, six months and 11 days. She spent the earlier part of her life here and moved with her parents to Dalhart, Texas in 1927 where they stayed three years. They moved to South Texas in 1930 and lived there two years. In August, 1932, the family moved to their present home where her parents lived at the time of her passing. She accepted Chriust her Saviour when she was 10 years old and was baptized into the fellowship of the Buffalo church by Rev. Walter Jordon. She graduated from the Sweewater high school in the sping of 1942. She enrolled in Junior College at Sayre in the following fall and attended there one year. During that year she was employed at The First National Bank, and worked there until she took sick. While her passing is a terrible shock to all of us, our loss is Heaven's gain. She leaves behind her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. C.C . Mandrell, one brother, lst Lieutenant T.C. Mandrell, three sisters, Juinece, Faye and Mable of the home address, two grandmothers, Mrs. Bertha Gorrell of Norman, Mrs. Tom Nelson of Mayfield, one grandfather, Tom Nelson of Mayfield, besides a host of other relatives to mourn her passing.
