Marriott was born July 4, 1906 in Merritt, Oklahoma Territory to Mamie Mildred and Charles Henry Martiott and passed away April 2, 1995 in the Shamrock General Hospital at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 28 days. Orval grew up in Western Oklahoma and attended Merritt Schools. He married Edith Emma Thornton on September 24, 1932 at the Barber Shop in Sweetwater, Oklahoma. They lived in the Sunnypoint community before moving to the Doxey community in 1943 where he farmed. They moved to Elk City in 1981 to make their home. Orval was a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 grandson. He is survived by 5 daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy June and Emmitt Gish, Shamrock, Texas, Teresa Mae and Jim Horn, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dona and Lonnie Donaldson, Canadian, Texas, Mary Dean and Steve Blevins, Sayre, Oklahoma and Sally Ann and Mike Sites, Sweetwater, Oklahoma; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Eula and David Thornton, Erick, Oklahoma; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Myrtle Thornton, Slidell, Louisiana; 21 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The Prayer Vigil service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 1995 in the Whinery-Savage Chapel. Mas of Christian Burial was 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 1995 at the St. Matthew Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Stephen Cude.
