She passed away September 16, 2005 at Dumas, Texas at the age of 85 years, 9 molnths and 16 days. She moved with her parents to Roger Mills County. She was married to Joe Merritt at Phoenix, Arizona on February 24, 1936. They returned to Roger Mills County to make their home. Juanita moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma where she worked as a nurse and later to Borger, Texas. She moved to Dumas, Texas in 2002 but always considered Roger Mills County her home. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazerene in Borger, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and three sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Joanne Brown and husband, Dauris, Perry, Oklahoma; two sons, Jerry Lee Merritt and wife, Mary, Laverne, Oklahoma, J.F. Merritt and wife, Ann, Crawford, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Pam, Penny, Paul, Perry, Brian, Deannie, Jennifer, and Matt; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 20, 2005 at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma officiated by Rev. Brad Foster. Services were under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to Memorial Hospice, 209 SW. Bliss, Dumas, Texas 79029.
