Services were conducted Sunday, November 13, 1966 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Texas City with Rev. Basil Jones officiating. Graveside rites were Monday, November 14, 1966 at 10:00 a.m. in the Oakwood cewmetery in Austin, Texas, conducted by Parsons Masonic Lodge No. 222 AF & AM of Austin. He was born December 4, 1901 in Manor, Texas to Marshall Lee and Mary Elizabeth Meredith, who preceded him in death. In 1925, he was married to Lillian Pitts of Austin, Texas. To this union one son, Howard Lynn was born. A resident of Texas City for the past 43 years, Mr. Meredith was a member and faithful worker in the Methodist Church, a member of Parsons Masonic Lodge in Austin, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Galveston and El Mina Shrine Temple. He was retired from Marathon Oil Company in 1963 after 31 years service. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Meredith; one son, Howard Lynn Mereith, Norman, Oklahoma; a sister, Mrs. Eva M. Richardson, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Clarence Meredith, Houston, Texas, and Leonard Meredith, Luling, Texas; one grandchild, Susan Elizabeth Meredith, other relatives and a host of many friends. Through the years, Mr. Meredith and family had visited in Hammon many times with his sister, Mrs. Richardson and family, formerly of Hammon. He acquired a numer of firends here and in Elk City during the visits.
