Martin was born near Kansas City, Kanasas October 22, 1878 and departed this life May 20, 1950 at the age of 71 years, six months and 28 days, in an Elk City hospital. Mr. Martin came to Elk City in 1899 and homesteaded a farm a mile north and a mile west of Elk City. He was married to Lillie Peper on January 7, 1909 who preceded him in death August 27, 1943. The family moved to the Grandview community north of Elk City in 1907 where he resided until March 1948. In 1949 he bought the Red Burns ranch northwest of Cheyenne and had made his home there since that time. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He is survived by two sons, Calvin Martin of Lamar, Colorado; Edward Martin of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Knight of Sayre, Oklahoma; Mrs. Earl Lowder of Stockton, California; one sister, Mrs. Luther P. Guest of Carlsbad, California; two brothers, C.A. and H.G. Martin both of Elk City; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter and a host of other relatives and friends.
