The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Randall Craig Martin was born April 14, 1953 in Borger, Texas to Gerald Lloyd and Nada Valeria Parks Martin. He died Sunday, February 23, 1997 at the age of 43 years, 10 months and 9 days, in the Anderson Cancer Hospital, Houston, Texas after a 7 1/2 month illness with leukemia. Randall moved with his family to Plainview, Texas from Broger September 1, 1957. He grew up in Plainview where he attended all 12 years of school and graduated in 1971 from Plainview High School he continued his education at Baylor University, Waco, Texas and Stephen F. Austin, Nacogdoches, Texas. He received a degree in Pyschology from Baylor in 1975. Randall married Brenda Joyce Whitehead March 3, 1973 in Plainview First Baptist Church. They moved from Waco to Gig Harbor, Washington in 1977 and moved back to Central Texas where he worked before returning to Plainview in July 1985. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview where he accepted Jesus as his Savior, May 13, 1962. He was an avtive member of the B.T. Lusk Sunday School Class. Randal worked for Mental-Health-Mental Retardation and Lonetree Recovery Center. He worked for the Plainview Daily Herald as an advertising salesman and began working for Texas Criminal Jusitce as a parole officer in July, 1991 where he was employed at the time of his death. Randall had been active in the Noon Optimist Club serving one year as President of the Club and two years a President of the Baseball Program which served about 600 young people each summer. He was named "Optimist of the Year: twice, and unusal recognition for his dedication to the work of the club. He served on the Floyd-Lamb-Hale County Council on Drug and Alchohol Abuse and on the Board of Serenity House. Survivors include his wife, Brenda, of the home in Plainview; his parents, Geral and Nada Martin of Reydon, Oklahoma; one sister, Cheryl Nadia Murphree, Houston, Texas; two brothers, Dennis Lloyd Martin, Nacogdoches, Texas and Kenneth Ray Martin, Hewitt, Texas and a host of relatives, friends and co-workers. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 26, 1997 in the First Baptist Church sanctuary with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating and assisted by the Rev. Raymond Bowlin, uncle of Brenda and pastor of Bushland Baptist Church, Bushland, Texas. Burial was in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview, Texas.
