He passed away December 10, 2004 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 25 days. Lloyd's family came from south Texas to Cheyenne where he graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1937. He ran track in high school and was a member of the first mounted boy scout troop. After graduation he worked for Swartwoods in the bakery for several years. Lloyd later worked in the grocery store for George Burns and later Eddie Lee McDaniel as a butcher. He was married to Margie Stauber at Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Oklahoma on July 3, 1938. They moved to a farm east of Roll before moving to their present home, the same farm that Margie's folks lived on in 1902. In 1945 to raise their family. Lloyd started preaching at Breezy Meadow in 1949 and then in 1952 accepted the Pastorship at the Magnolia Baptist Church in Crawford, Oklahoma. He continued to pastor at Magnolia for over the next 32 years until he retired. After his retirement Lloyd continued to fill the pulpit in several churches in western Oklahoma. Lloyd served on the Northfork Board of Directors for over 27 years. He was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 1 son, Ronnie Lee, 1 infant son, David Martin and 1 grandson, Paul Lanier. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the church of your choice. Services were held Monday, December 13, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Terry Beals and Aubrey Cowan. Burial were held at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose hapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne. Survivors: wife-Margie, of the home-3 daughters-Lloydelle Martin and Roger Lester, Amarillo, Texas, Juretta Sue and Dean Person, Amarillo, Texas, Christi Lanier, Lawrence, Kansas, 1 son, Joe Don Martin and wife, Karla, Sanger, California, 1 daughter-in-law Barbara Martin, Perryton, Texas, 4 granddaughters Cindy Harris, Flowermound, Texas, Aubrey Martin, Elk City, Oklahoma, Sarah Hammer, Panhandle, Texas, Jana Martin, Sanger, California, 7 grandsons Marty Martin, Perryton, Texas, David Pearson, Amarillo, Texas, Tim Martin, Perryton, Texas, Nathan Lanier, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Daniel Lanier and Mathew Lanier both of Lawrence, Kansas, Michael Martin, Sanger, California, 4 great granddaughters Candace Lanier, Ashley Hammer and Scout Harris, Callie Hammer, 3 great grandsons Adam Person, Nicholas Harris, William Paul Hammer as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
