Forester. She passed away January 10, 2010 at her home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 24 days. She was a member of Grandview Church for some 20 years and was actively involved in various areas of ministery in the church. Lavon was married to Bob Mayfield at Wheeler, Texas on September 4, 1959. Lavon and Bob had just celerbrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Lavon was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Rita Bailey, a brother, Leon Forester, and 2 sisters, Louise Berry and Laverne Musick. Lavon worked outside the home throughout the years as a waitress and secretary. However she enjoyed most being a wife and mother. Lavon always loved to cook her favorite dressing and pies for her family during the holidays. Although she loved her 5 children with all her heart, becoming a grandmother was her greatest joy. Lavon enjoyed fast cars and always drove one. She actually ran a quarter mile powder puff drag race and won it several years ago in Guymon, Oklahoma. The family enjoyed drag car and stock car racing and Lavon was an active part of the pit crew. She loved camping and fishing or any hobby her husband was involved in. Lavon also loved sewing and had made more quilts and pillows than one family could ever use. Her family will miss her greatly bu know that she is in Heaven with her Heavenly father rejoicing. She is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; 4 children, Tina Yeager and husband, Rodney, Elk City, Oklahoma, Robert Mayfield and wife Cindy, Clinton, Oklahoma, Anthony Mayfield, Clinton, Oklahoma, Lonnie Mayfield and wife, Susan, Elk City, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 7 brothers and sisters, William Forester, Amarillo, Texas, Annie Lee Porter, Dill City, Oklahoma, Ronnie Forester, Amarillo, Texas, Lonnie Forester, Elk City, Oklahoma, Retha Bruce, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Randy Forester, Stillwater, Oklahoma, Velda Moore, Amarillo, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Friday, January 15, 2010 ast 10:30 am at Grandview Church officiated by Pastor Mark Little and Pastor Josh White. Burial followed at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery- Savage Funeral Service.
