Meyer, 88, was born June 23, 1903 in Roger Mills County. He died February 11, 1982 while in the Heritage Care Center in Clinton. He was the son of John Henry and Lydia Bertha Meyer. Funeral service were held in the Leedey Red Star Brethern in Christ Church on Saturday, February 15, 1992 with Stan Norman and Charles Rickel officiating. Burial was in the Red Star cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Arnold attended the Pleasant Hill rural school near his childhood home. He married Katherine Switzer on August 25, 1922 and they settled on a farm in Roger Mills County west of Leedey. In 1954 the family moved to California where he became involved in various types of gardening and landscaping, with a special emphasis on formal landscaping. He was a member of the Bretheren in Christ Church, attending the Red Star church while residing in Oklahoma and the Chino and Upland Churches while in California. He was very active in his church, serving many years in various areas, including board members, Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He also served on the Red Star School Board for a number of years. He returned to Oklahoma in 1990 and had resided in the Heritage Care Center until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Katherine; two daughters, Vada Goins and Verna Meyer, four sisters, Bertha, Bessie, Mintie, and Mary; five brothers, Clifford, Fred, Earl, Wray and George. He is survived by three sons, Vernon Meyers of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Delbert Myer of Leedey and Harold Dale Meyer of Phelen, Califonria; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
