She was born December 29, 1919 in Strong City, Oklahoma; and attended Crawford High Schoold. She married Charlie Montgomery on September 29, 1937 in Sayre, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death in August 2004. They moved to Washington state in 1938. She taught elementary school for a number of years and later worked as a hospital dietary technician. Siblings proceeding her in death were sister: Dorothy Donoghue, June Robinette and Clorence Stephenson, borther: Herman, George, Roy, Wesley and Virgil Stephenson. Surviving sisters: Frances Rosenberry, Apache Junction, Arizona and Louise Mulford, Sunnyside, Washington; brothers: Duane, John (Toppy), Kenneth and Leo Stepheson all of White Salmon, Washington. Surviving children: Charleta Handly, Vancouver, Washington, Kenneth Montgomery, Dundee, Oregon, Joyce McLain, Oregon City, Oregon. Also proceeding her in death were her parents Jim and Bessie Courtney Stephenson and infant daughter, Glenda Wanzell Montgomery. For many years Ialeta and Charlie enjoyed returning for Crawford School reunions and to visit their nephew Gerald Montgomery (Carolyn) of Crawford, Oklahoma and niece Margaret Lantz Dent of Enid, Oklahoma.
