Interment will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin Funeral Home. Ruby Elberta (Fesmire) Mooney was born September 23, 1911 to Felix Hysen Fesmire and Luella (Stephenson) Fesmire in Hammon, Oklahoma and passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 in Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 96. Ruby graduated from Hammon High School with the class of 1930. She and Harold Mooney were married on September 27, 1935. To this union two children were born. Harold Keith Mooney on March 25, 1938, and Lafaye (Mooney) Holbin on April 28, 1939. Ruby started her adult life along with Harold on a rented farm and later accumulated enough money to purchase their home located northwest of Hammon, Oklahoma. She worked side by side with her husband doing all jobs that had to be done. She raised a garden each year, canning for the winter, raising chickens for their meat and eggs, as well as helping Harold milk cows. She also crocheted and made quilts and enjoyed giving them to family and friends. The Penticostal Holinesss Church in Hammon was her place of worship. She totally enjoyedd visits from grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruby lived alone on the farm after Harold died in 1990, until the age 95, when a broken hip forced her to seek medical treatment and relocate. She was considrered a hero by many and loved by all. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, and three brothers. Survivors include her son Keith Mooney and his wife Bonnie, of Hammon, Oklahoma her daughter, Lafaye Holbin and her husband, Harvey, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; one sister Geneva Wilson, of Edmond, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. Memorials in Ruby's name can be made to the Red Hill Cemetery or the Hammon Penticostal Holiness Church.
