Mrs. Newton was 74 at the time of her death. At the age of fourteen, she was united in marriage to Glen Vernon Newton at Sayre, Oklahoma on February 3, 1937. To this most happy union ten children came to bless their home. Nellie loved the duties of a homemaker, always striving to make her home a place of comfort and happiness. She enjoyed raising a garden for her large family, and making quilts to keep them warm on winter nights. She always had time to prepare a dish of food for a sick friend and visit a while to encourage them. Whenever there was a funeral dinner in the community Nellie always sent food and at her church she was always there to help serve the meal. She dearly enjoyed having her children and grandchildren home for a visit, spending many happy hours together. Nellie, sensing a deeper need in her life, accepted Christ as her Savior and on April 27, 1958 was baptized and became a member of the Leedey First Baptist Church. She loved her church and took part in all of the activities. Nellie became the church custodian and served faithfully at this position for many years, receiving the Faithful service Award from her church for her many years of dedicated work. Nellie's smile and pleasant greeting will be dearly missed. Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen; her son, Lynn, two sisters, Alice Chapman and Rosie Moxon; four brothers, Marvin, Ode, Albert and George Moxon.
