Bullock of Crawford, Oklahoma, was born at Beatrice, Nebraska, June 22, 1922. Word was received by Mrs. Bullock on the 26th day of July, 1944, that Cpl. Oakley was killed in action somewhere in Sicily on the 7th day of July. He was 22 years and 15 days of age. Ray had been in the service of his country for four years the first day of the past June. He had been overseas one year and 10 months, and was with the same company he started with. Ray was wounded on March 311, 1943 in the Tunisian campaign, had five wounds and was in the hospital appoximately nine months. He was awarded the Purple Heart. His letters were always cheerful and encouraging to the folks back home. Ray was united with the Baptist church at Breezy Meadow when he was eleven years of age, and was always an active worker in the community affairs. He will always live in the memory of everyone that knew him on account of his bright smile and cheerful words. He was faithful to his God until he was called home to join his father, Ray O. Oakley Sr., who preceded him in death 20 years ago at Kansas City, Missouri. Ray leaves to mourn his untimely passsing his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Bullock of Crawford, Oklahoma; two sisters, Billie Jane Underwood of Oklahoma City and Delores Bullock of the home address; his grandfather, W.J. Davidson of Des Moines, Iowa. Also three aunts of Kansas City, Missouri, and a host of other relatives and friends.
