Poff will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Russell officiating. Burial wil follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home. Raymond L. Poff was born March 16, 1907 in Durham, Indian Territory, and died late Sunday Mary 3, 1992 at the age of 85. He moved to the Elk City-Merritt community as a young lad. He attended Elk City Schools and one March 25, 1929 he was married to Edith Heathcoat in Elk City. They made their home in the Merritt community where Raymond farmed and worked as a custodian at the Merritt School. He spent his entire life in this area and his last employment was as a custodian for the Elk City Schools where he retired in 1972 after 25 years of service. Mrs. Poff preceded him in death on August 6, 1988. Survivors include six sons, Ray of Wickenburg, Arizona, Dean of Norman, J.L. of Oklahoma City, Tommy of Orlando, Florida, Terry of Sayre, and Randy of Oklahoma City; one brother, Carl Poff of Whitesboro, Texas. Also three sisters, Cleo Robbins of Auburn, California, Bonnie Nesser and Glayds Wilson of Elk City; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
