At the age of 18 he was converted and united with the Baptist church in Montague County, Texas. He was united in marriage with Arminda Dunn on December 12, 1914. To this union were born four children. Mr. Pope was a resident of Oklahoma for the past 34 years. He lived in Roger Mills County, around Cheyenne and Strong City for 30 years before moving to Oklahoma City where he lived four years. He had been a resident of Bristow since August of this year. Surviving are his wife, Arminda Pope, of Bristow; four daughters, Mrs. Nellie Biggs, of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Ellie Wright of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Faustine Gilbraithe of Bristow; and Mrs. Bernice Conrad of Helena, Ohio; two step-daughters, Mrs. Billie Hensley of Socorro, New Mexico; Mrs. Pearl Miller; of Sunny Side, Washington; also two step-sons, W.E. Dunn of Sunny Side, Washington, and Ted Dunn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He leaves also many other relatives and a host of friends.
