The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Obit for Sarah Louisa Plunkett Sarah Louisa Plunkett was born December 14, 1877, in Mississippi, and departed this life on Januaary 7, 1965, at Thousand Oaks, California, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Phill Caldwell of a heart attack. The Plunkett family moved to this vicinity in the early 1900's and resided at Reydon, Oklahoma until the death of her husband, William J. Plunkett in 1952. Since that time she has visisted here only on occasions and has madce her home with her children in California. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and loved by all who knew her. She always helped in time of illness in the early days. She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and a faithful member as long as she was here. She attended church when able. She was preceded in death by her husband and three sons, John Durham, Nov. 11 and G.D. "Bud" Plunkett, February 14, both in 1964 and Grady in August 1956. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Oleta Caldwell of Thousand Oaks, California, Mrs. Waneta Guthrie of San Jose, California and Mrs. Velma Tommy Douglas of Sacramento, California. Also 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were conducted at the Griffin Brothers Funeral Chapel in Thousand Oaks, California on Saturday, January 9, 1955 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Robert H. Alexander, pastor of the First Christian Church for all the relatives in California who could not attend services in Reydon, Oklahoma, Wednesday January 13, 1965 at the Community Building with Rev. Billy G. Wheeler, pastor of the Assembly of God church whose family are life-time friends of the Plunketts. Interment in the White Rose cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma by the side of her husband. Faatheree-Albert Funeral Home of Erick in charge. Relatives from a distance were her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Caldwell, Thousand Oaks, Mrs. Amos Guthrie, San Jose, and Mrs. C.S. Douglas of Sacramento, California; Her niece Mrs. Effie Clack and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Hart of Perryton, Texas; a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Henry and friends of Ralston; Mrs. Hoy Wheeler and daughters, Mrs. Bernie Sorensen (Wilma Dean) both of Canadian, Texas; Mrs. John Wheeler and son, Elmo Wheeler of Canadian, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Elzy Howell of mayfield, Mrs. William King and Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Purcell of Elk City; Mr. and Mrs. Asher Sullenberger of Del City; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Howell, Mayfield, Mrs. Ira Douglas. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
