He was a salesman for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 15 years. A memorial service was held at 2p.m., Saturday, May 27, 1989 at the Shrine of Rest Chapel of Roses, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Mr. Pumphrey was born April 4, 1907 in Dill City, Oklahoma to Alice T. and Frances I. Hargrove Pumphrey. He lived in Pampa, Texas some 25 years before moving to Colorado Springs in 1961. He attended Southwestern State Teachers College in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and was a member of the Masonic lodge #966 in Pampa. Mr. Pumphrey was married December 26, 1931, in Cordell, Oklahoma, to Alice M. Page, who survives. Mr. Pumphrey also is survived by a daughter, Donna Enns of Colorado Springs; a son, Jerry D. of Denver; two brothers, A.T. of San Antonio, Texas and Roy J. of Alanta, Georgia; two sisters, Reba Horn of New Bert, Oregon, and Mary Frances Hinze of Bella Vista, Arkansas; and three grandchildren. Mr. Pumphrey attended Leedey Schools as a youth, graduating with the Class of 1925. Before moving to Pampa, he was a Leedey businessman.
