He had been residing in the Veteran Center in Clinton, Oklahoma recently. C.R. was born March 4, 1918,in Gotebo, Oklahoma to ohn Williams Pierce and Ella Mae Summers. He grew up in Seminole County and attended Ong School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the beginning of World War II and fought and served from June 1943 through September 1945 in the Rome-Arno Rhineland Campaign, Central Europe Campaign and Naples- Foggia, Southern France/Sicily Campaign. He married Drebbie Pope in November 24, 1951. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Hay and her husband Dee of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; his sister, Helen Williams, Wichita, Kansas; two grandchildren, Twila Moler and Ryan Nalley, Cheyenne, and one great grandchild, Teagon Moler, Cheyenne, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ella Pierce, one grandchild, Bridget Nalley; three sisters, Beatrice Towler, Nell Barker and Ruth Bogart; and three brothers, Dimpsy Pierce, Robert Pierce, and Herschell Pierce. Funeral services were held Friday, January 3, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka, Oklahoma, with Reverend Larry Cherster officiating. VFW )Post 1311 performed the flag ceremony at the chapel, and interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka, Oklahoma.
