Parks was born March 23, 1880 in Marton County, Arkansas. Departed this life September 14, 1965 in an Elk City hospital. She was 85 years, 5 months and 21 days of age. On April 1, 1896 she was united in marriage to N.B. Parks at Hart, Indian Territory. They came to the Carpenter area in 1900, sometime later they moved near Hammon and in 1939 they moved to Hammon. Mrs. Parks was truly a pioneer, many families can remember her help in the early trials of settling the news country in which she gave graciously of her time and talent to build this area into the land we enjoy today, and although fews are left of that day, we will not soon forget the trials they endured and their contributions to our society. Survivorrs include two sons, Claude Parks, Perryton, Texas' Carl Parks, Konawa, Oklahoma; four daughters, Mrs. Flora Brown and Mrs. Gladys Dow, Hammon; Mrs. Velma Richert, Enid and Mrs. Bertie Lee Owens, Canute; also 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; other relatives and of course, many, many friends who mourn her passing. Besides her husband and a daughter, Maudie Barnes preceded her in death.
