Powers was born June 2, 1864 in Putman County, West Virginia. He departed this life at his home near Durham after an illness of several motnhs on December 31, 1943 at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 4 days. He moved with his parents to Sherman, Texas in 1886. He was married to Julia Webb in 1888. To this union were born seven children, five of whom preceded him in death. He moved in 1905 to western Oklahoma where he spent the remaning years of his life. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Mrs. Julia Powers and one son, George, both of Durham, one daughter, Mrs. Ivie of Roswell, New Mexico, twelve grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. May Reaves, Mrs. Gertrude Reaves, Mrs. Minnie Skelton and one brother, George Power all of Sayre. He left his testimony with us, that he was ready and willing to go to be with his Savior. Funeral services were held at the Silent Home Cemetery, Sunday January 2, 1944. Rev.
