Parkhurst was born October 6, 1924 in Butler, Oklahoma to Hope and Amanda Parkhurst. He passed away May 27, 2004 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. After his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Custer County. He later moved to Roger Mills County where he owned and operated Parkhurst and Son's Texaco for several years. Charles later retired from Roger Mills County. After his retirement he moved to Gore, Oklahoma until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife Doris, seven children and their spouses, Ronald and Betty Skidmore of Springtown, Texas, Roy and Dianne Skidmore of Longview, Texas, Lola and Wes Conway of Gore, Oklahoma, Austin and Jalene Parkhurst of Gravette, Arkansas, Mark and Connie Parkhurst of Gore, Oklahoma, Sue and Billy Batchelor of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. 21 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 brother. Memorial services were held June 2, 2004 at the National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
