He died Friday June 13, 1997 in an Oklahoma City nursing home after a lenghy illness. Mr. Porter was born on July 26, 1908 in Cheyenne and was 88 at the time of his death. He lived in the Cheyenne area with his wife, Anna Ayres Porter, whom he married on July 3, 1930 in Sayre. They moved to Pixley, California in 1936. After retirement, they returned to Newalla, Oklahoma in 1972. In 1980, they returned to Tualre, California and then agein due to declining health returned to Oklahoma City in 1992 when they resided until his death. Interment was in Tulare, California. Survivors include; his wife, Anna of Oklahoma City nursing home; three sons, James R. of El Sabrate, California; Rudene Porter of Oklahoma City; Jerry of Clovis, California; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
