Porter was born May 6, 1930 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Maggie and Alva Porter. He passed away August 14, 2006 at Oklahoma City, Oklahomaa at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 8 days. J.T. grew up in the Reydon community and attended school at Meridian and Reydon. He was married to Evelyn (Robison) Porter at Hammon, Oklahoma on March 1, 1952. They moved to Pampa, Texas where he worked for Davis Construction until 1953 when they moved back to Reydon to make their home where they farmed and ranched until 1984. J.T. had Esphageal cancer and then in 2003 he returned to farming and ranching until his death. He loved to play with his grandchildren and he was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Laffie Wood, 1 grandson, Tony Porter, and 1 brother, Herschelle Wood. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of the home; three children, James Porter & wifce, Dianna, Reydon, OK, Billy Porter & wife, Donna, Reydon, OK and Shirley Porter Roanew husband, Wilbur, Porter, TX; six grandchildren, Joey Porter, Stephen Porter, Gena Porter, Hope Porter, Lisa Roane, and Jeremy Roane; two great grandchildren, Katy Porter and Jessi Porter; one brother, Ervie Porter & wife, Anna Lee, Cheyenne, OK; one sister-in-law, Dean Robison, Follett, TX, and a host of other relatives and friends. Burial at White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
