She celebrated her 77th Birthday on Saturday, October 3, 2009. Velta Rae was born to Henry and Seaneth Walker on the homestead fatm in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. She attended 5 Star School. She was raised in Roger Mills County aand later moved to Oklahoma City and worked for Burroughs Corporation. She attended State College and met her friend Clay Pedigo and married him. They had 43 years of married life. They moved to Jackson, Mississippi shortly after marriage in 1967. To this union were born two boys Jeff and Scott. After raising her family she worked for U.S. Bankruptcy Trust, Ellen Shaffer, for nearly 20 years. She was a member of social soroity, Beta Sigma Phi, where she served several terms as president of her chapter as well as b! oard member and president of the City Council both in Jackson and OKC. She was an active member of Brianwood Presbyterian Church for many years. She was a very loving and caring person. She is survived by her husband, Clay, her son Jeff of Jackson; her son Scott and wife Lulu, grandchildren Walker and Elizabeth Pedigo of Madison, MI and her two brothers, Charlie and wife Myria Walker of Guhrie, Oklahoma and Ronnie and wife Glenda Walker of Weatherford, Oklahoma; aunt Minnie Vola Hillman of Roll, Oklahoma and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Seaneth Walker; grandparents, Alpha Thomas and Nancy Lyda Leddy and Vick and Katie Walker. In lieu of flowers or other expressions, Velta requested that memorials by made to the American Cancer society. Memorial services celebrating her life were held at Briarwood Pressbyterian Church in Jackson on Thursday, October 15, 2009.
