Interment was in the Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. An online registry is available at www.martinfh.com. The family requests memorials in Melvin's name made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Melvin Ray Pinkston was born April 20 1934 near Hammon to Thomas S. and Mary Lorene (Thomas) Pinkston and passed away Friday, October 15, 2010, at the age of 76. He graduated from Hammon High School in 1953 and has lived in western Oklahoma his entire life. He worked for Shell Oil Company, Albert Bros Distributing, a rancher, a partner in sale barns as an owner-operator and most recently an owner-operator of conveniences stores. He married Nancy Gibson on May 22, 1992. Melvin was a member of the Elks Lodge, had served on the Elk City Rodeo Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donnie and Eddie Pinkston. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Pinkston of the Elk City home; two children, Tony Walker and her husband Purcy Dale of Elk City, and Todd Pinkston and his wife Dana of Canadian, Texas; stepdaughter, Amy Telford of Elk City; four grandchildren, Brandon Walker and his wife Misty of Plano Texas Crystal Burton and her husband Russell of Elk City, Candace Jones and hr husband Joe of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, and Ryan Pinkston of Canadian, Texas; five great-grandchildren Caylin and Reece Burton, Lauren Walker and Cade and Jace Jones; two sisters, Loretta Sunderland and her husband Bill of Woodward and Evelyn Marshall and her husband William of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and the mother of his children, Mary Ellen Pinkston of Elk City.
